Located in an area that holds the imprint of an area with important cultural activity, on the C.A. Rosetti street, this space is destined to host artistic events largely related to works of art, books and design. Considering the wide range of means of expression available to the current artistic phenomenon, one of our wishes was to obtain a homogeneous and “isotropic” space where the works of art can be exposed on each of the vertical and horizontal surfaces of the gallery without getting in contact with the displaying surfaces. This is why we chose that all the walls, ceilings and the floor to be white.
Supporting the idea that the exhibition space should be closely related with the concept of the book, the partition elements and the ones with vertical and horizontal |
exposure are actually the hypo-stasis of a the same book-object whose “covers” may be closed or open depending on the size and quality of the exhibits, this way the exposed objects being delivered like the content of a book.
For unity of expression the ceiling is also made from the same elements, covers of opened books both to the public area and the concrete slab, creating a vibrant texture, but in the same time a homogeneous one. These flexible modules are also placed in the showcases and will allow the change of the linear position and the arrangement of these showcases depending on the event. In order to avoid interfering with the street, the windows have been provided with rolls, made from a white, translucent material to complete the proposed neutral image.
